GRACE WALLIS (LARSON)

Grace L. Wallis Grace Wallis is a choice and noble daughter of God The life she lived I do applaud She has had her trials and stood her test Throughout her life she did her best She is the mother of my wife, She is the one who brought her into life. She risked all to bring her to this earth, Through the miracle we call birth. Her earthly children number ten, Six beautiful daughters and four handsome men. If "Mother" means service, sacrifice, love and worry, I'd put Grace near the top of the list in a hurry. A sacrifice of her life she made, I would say she passed the grade. The essence of her life was toil, labor and loving care, For her children-she was always there. Her life has not been a "piece of cake", She labored long till her back did ache. Her life was a mixture of worry, toil and love, And trust in the great God above. That He would make up the difference which she may lack, But she was not negligent nor was she slack. She has blessed many a life in a wonderful way. Causing hearts to rejoice as they went on their way. Money always seemed thin and times were tight, And it did cause her to labor with all her might. Just to help keep the family clothed and fed, And at the end of each day she would "plop" into bed. And arise the next morning to begin anew, to tackle the great pile of chores she had to do. But she never complained, she was a hardy soul, As she fulfilled most nobly her God given role. Many finer things of life seemed to pass her by, But she did not murmur or wimp or cry. For pioneer blood in her veins did flow, And she could not be thwarted by life's hard blow. She did the best she could with what she had, And that kind of success is not half bad. In simple things she found much pleasure, Good friends and her family were her great treasure. A numerous posterity their roots do trace, To this good woman whose name was Grace. Who can measure her great impact upon this earth, Just from her raising her children and giving them birth? I know I owe her much more than mere words can say, I owe her a debt that I can never repay. For my lovely wife received much of her charm and beauty, From this wonderful mother who just did her duty. And I loved this woman who was my friend so true, And I know I am speaking for many of you. God knows well her works and will judge her heart, And great blessings and glory to her will impart. And may God bless her memory and keep it ever alive, In our hearts and memory as to do our duties we strive. she was a faithful mother, provider and wife And has now been called home to that God who gave her life but she will rise forth in her own appointed time And the Glory of God will on her shine She will come forth in a proper and perfect frame Thanks be to God and His ever great name but she is now finally at rest in a state of peace in a place where troubles and cares does cease she has filled the purpose of her life on earth And in the resurrection she will find new birth Yes, she has faithfully kept her second estate and will henceforth be crowned with honor and glory great She will again experience joy, happiness and love, As she dwells in mansions prepared above And Great and happy will that sweet reunion be when her departed Fergus she greets with glee Now we who are left have our trials and tests to face That we may be proven as was our dear sister grace May we do so valiantly and one day may hear Great God exclaim Well done faithful servant and friend as he calls us by name.
