Frank Leland Barrus

04/16/2018
Frank Leland Barrus, age 53, passed away November 19, 2010 from complications of pneumonia at Providence Hospital Anchorage, Alaska. Frank was born October 31, 1957 in Cody, Wyoming. He earned Eagle Scout Honors and graduated from Cody H.S. in 1976. He served in the Tahiti, Papeete Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Frank received his Bachelor Degree from Brigham Young University, and completed his MBA at Oregon State University. He met Barbara Emmett and married her in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple in 1980. He was a dedicated husband and father of six. He loved sharing his wealth of experience and knowledge of life with his children and grandchildren, which included: hunting, fishing, baseball, football, business, and service. Frank taught business management at UVU for over eight years living in Provo, Orem and then Payson where he enjoyed the open space and opportunity to be involved with the church and playing sports with his kids. The family then moved to Alaska in 2001 for a new job opportunity. This presented great fun and activity for everyone in the family with fishing trips and late night fun in the midnight sun. Dad was always the voice we heard over the crowd, whether at sporting events or just out with our friends. He was always the "push" that made us strive to be better. We will miss our Dad, Husband, Friend, Coach, Teacher, Leader and our biggest Fan. We were all blessed and became better individuals by having known him and have been given another exceptional example to live our lives by. Frank was preceded in death by: his father, Charles "Tunney" and brothers, John and Chip. He is survived by: his mother, Bobbie Barrus; his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara, of Anchorage; his children, Lindsay (Jeff) Ekins of Mona, UT; Tiffany (Ryan) Metcalf of Wasilla, AK; Clayton (Makenna) Barrus of Cheney, WA; Chase of Payson, UT; Natalie and KaiLee of Anchorage; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Carson, Mason, Maylee, Isabelle, Athena, Baelyn, and Tyson. A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the West Mountain LDS Chapel, 3 miles West of Payson on Utah Ave., from 9:30-10:45 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00. Interment will be at the Payson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the family at any Wells Fargo Bank under Frank or Barbara Barrus.
