Death: May 31, 2011
Francis James Johnson (Jim) passed away May 31, 2011 at the age of 88, from that inescapable event of living a long life.
Jim was born April 9, 1923, in Lovell, WY, to Anthony Stratton Johnson & Edith Elmina Stephens. He was the fifth of six children, survived only by his sister, Anthea. He grew up in Lovell and graduated from Lovell High School.
While stationed at Hill Air Force Base, he met Louese Burnett and they married on November 27, 1947 in the Logan Temple. In 1950, they moved to Salt Lake to attend the University of Utah, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He and Louese raised seven children together, later they moved to the Cottonwood area. He was employed by the Utah Department of Employment Security for most of his life.
Jim had a love of the outdoors and traveled the west with his family visiting probably every national and state park that could be found, camping and cooking along the way. He was actively involved in scouting through out his life and made a positive contribution to a lot of young scouts. Jim also loved photography, gardening and skiing.
Jim was blessed to meet and marry Lois Neff Stringfellow in April, 1988 and added six stepchildren to his family. He and Lois met while square dancing and took the show on the road as they traveled in their fifth wheel trailer, dancing and meeting many new friends around the country. Lois was a tremendous comfort and support throughout his life.
Survived by five children: Sandy (Clair) Sherman, Janeel (Steve) Salmond, Bryce (Elizabeth) Johnson, Joel Johnson, and Lenore (Ronald) Beckstrom; six stepchildren, Stanley (Susan) Stringfellow, Susan Montoya, Warren (Peggy) Stringfellow, Rachel (Gary) Vancil, Mary Grace (Charlie) Roundtree, and Ellen (Billy) Pruitt; 29 grandchildren; and a growing number of great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wives, Louese and Lois and daughters, Connie and Vicky.
