Eva Burton Franz, 93, passed away at home in Provo, Utah June 28, 2002 from pneumonia.
She was born Nov 2, 1908 in Afton, WY to Arthur F. and Kittie C. Dixon Burton, the seventh of 11 children. Eva graduated from Afton High School and Normal school and taught elementary school. Then she attended the University of Wyoming, graduat-ing in 1931 in Home Economics. She taught two years in Reliance, WY.
On May 1, 1933, she married John Cahoon Franz in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. At first they lived in Colorado and Wyoming. In 1935 they went to California where they stayed for 36 years living in Walkermine, Nevada City, Grass Valley, El Cerrito, and Berkeley. For 20 of these years she taught school. This was followed by three years each in Lakewood, CO, and Washington D.C., and 16 retirement years in Lakewood, CO. In 1993, a move occurred to Provo, UT.
Survived by four children, two sons and two daughters; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Reese (Frances) Burton, Lincoln, CA, Gail (Eileen) Burton, Salem, UT; and one sister, Ruth Bishop, Provo, UT. Preceded in death by her parents, husband (Jan 27, 1994), one son, one grandson, six sisters, and one brother.
Eva's interests included oil painting, writing poetry, music, writing books on family history, scripture study, genealogy, and woodworking. She served in all the auxiliaries in the LDS church and was a volunteer at the opening of three temples (Oakland; Washington, D.C.; and Denver) where she also served as a temple worker.

Services will be Wed. July 3, 2002, Edgemont 8th Ward Chapel, 3050 Mojave Lane, Provo, UT, 11 a.m., where family and friends may call prior to the service 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.Tree Connect bookmarklet available at RecordSeek.com.
