Birth: Jun. 6, 1915 Basalt Bingham County Idaho, USA Death: Sep. 8, 1981 Idaho Falls Bonneville County Idaho, USA Lynn Austin Dye ,66, Basalt, longtime postal carrier in Firth and prominent in the Latter Day Saint Church, died 8 September 1981, at a local hospital following a heart attack. He was born 6 June 1915, at Basalt to Joseph H. and Nellie Dora Child Dye. He attended Basalt and Firth schools and graduated with honors. He worked at the Basalt store for his father. He later became owner of the store and operated it until 1944, when he entered the Army. On 10 May 1934, he married Vita Brower in the Logan, Utah Latter Day Saints Temple. Following his discharge from the Army in 1946 he returned to Basalt. He served as a mail carrier for the Firth area for 32 years. He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church and served as a Shelley Stake missionary in 1961-1962, was Bishop of the Basalt Ward, served on the Firth Stake High Council, secretary of the High Priests Quorum in Basalt and at the time of his death was assistant finance clerk for the Firth Stake. Survivors include a son, Gary K. of Las Vegas, Nevada; five daughters, Mrs Verlyn Outcelt of Basalt, Mrs Marlene Jibson of Riverton, Utah, Mrs. LeAnn Coleman of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Mrs. Lynette Eaton of Idaho Falls, and Mrs. Darla Madsen of Shelley, Idaho. Two sisters, Florence Hanny and Ida Gardner, both of Idaho Falls; a brother, Warren Dye of Firth; 15 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Services were held at the Basalt LDS Ward chapel, with Bishop Richard Matheson conducting. His burial was in the Firth Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
