1st of 7 children of Daniel Joseph Kehely (1845-1910) from West Australia & Mary De Castro (1855-1914) from Taranaki.
He married Mary Anna Marquardt (1878-1969) on 21 Oct 1898 & had 6 children from 1900-1912.
He served as Private 26961 under the name Edward John BROWN, with the 17th Reinforcements, Auckland Infantry Battalion, A Company, NZEF. He said he was born in Australia, that he was a Stonemason and, on his embarkation in 1916, that his next of kin was his friend Miss Ethel Howell, 51 Salisbury St., Christchurch.
Mary and his parents are buried in Taranaki
