Donna Ann Stansfield Pitt, 74, passed away March 5, 2017, at her home after a battle with cancer. Born December 4, 1942, in Roosevelt, to George Reed and Lois Caroline Nielsen Stansfield. Married Wallace Earl Pitt on September 3, 1964, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died July 22, 2012. Survived by children, Tammy (Ed) Freston, Myton; Carmen Earl (Linda) Pitt, Fruita, CO and LaReta (Lynn) Summarell, Bridgeland; a nephew, Wallace (Judy) Dunsmore, Arcadia; 16 grandchildren, 26½ great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph (Jill) Stansfield, Duchesne; Linda (Stan) Bench, Duchesne; Laurie Brummond, Bridgeland; Craig (Lola) Stansfield, Mountain Home; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, parents, parents-in-law, Ernest & Vida Pitt; grandson, Jeremy Summarell; great-grandsons, Heston Summarell & Shaun Dunsmore. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bridgeland LDS Chapel where a viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Friday. Burial will be in the Bridgeland Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary. Condolences may be shared at www.hullingermortuary.com In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the “Hope Lodge” in Salt Lake City, an organization dedicated to helping those with cancer.

Born in New York City, he attended New York University School of Medicine, later choosing to do medical research instead of becoming a practicing physician. In 1939, after earning his medical degree, Salk began an internship as a physician scientist at Mount Sinai Hospital. Two years later he was granted a fellowship at the University of Michigan, where he would study flu viruses with his mentor Thomas Francis, Jr.
