Uncle David

Contributor: Robbhaas Created: 1 year ago Updated: 1 year ago

Uncle David was an Uncle through my mom, Mary's marriage to his brother Martin. As a ten year old, I was in awe that he served in Vietnam. Through the years he was extremely kind to me and I loved him. He paid me to feed his chickens, invited us over to dinner, and the thing I remember most was when he told Grandma Jenkins to give me his set of encyclopedias being stored in her room at the house in Payson. I was so excited and I loved those books! I dusted and washed them to keep them clean and shiny. Those books taught me about the presidents, historical figures, and feed my hunger for knowledge. He saw how much I loved to learn and he supported and fed this. They always occupied a place of prominence in my room. I gave them to DI when my mom passed. Thinking back on how much those books meant, I regret giving them up. Sorry Uncle David. Thank you though for believing in me and for your love. I am so glad you came to my mission farewell and I was able to give a prayer at your funeral. Love, Tabbie
