Airplane & Engine school in Biloxi, MS, Wichita Falls KS, also Wichita Falls, TX. Was airplane & engine instructor at Wichita Falls & Amarillo, TX.
In 1946 worked as a Bell boy at the Whitman Hotel before then worked a shoe shime boy and sold newspapers. In 1947, went to Salt Lake City, UT and worked as usher in Utah Theatre, then as a busboy at hotel Utah. He next joined the Navy Reserve but was not called to active duty. His father transferred to Nampa on the rail road and left David, age 15, to fix up an old car and move the family from Pocatello to Nampa a distance of 300 miles.
David also worked on the rail road in Pocatello, until they checked up on his age and found he was too young to work.
December 2, 1948 David joined the Air Force and went immediately to Sheppard, Wichita Falls, TX for boot training. Then on to Keesler AFB, MS to airplane & engine school graduated October 29, 1949.
February 20, 1950, was instructor in (A&E) instruments branch at Sheppard, AFB, TX. August 11, 1955, drove by car to Las Vegas, NV.
June 22, 1957, David completed a mobile training school on F-100A jet fighter planes at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV. A report to his squadron Commander said Sgt. Prescott was the only man in the school to receive a 100% average all through the school.
David Dennis Prescott, Tsgt USAF, transferred to Columbus MS, March 14, 1959 from Fort Worth, TX, after one year.
July 18, 1961 Dennis, Alice & their four children came home to Nampa for the first time in 7 years, he has been stationed at Goose Bay, Labrador, Las Vegas, NV, Texas and Columbus, MS., where he worked as Master Crew Chief, (second to none) on jet airplanes. Three quarters of the population in MS are Negroes.
They drove a 1959 Pontiac, makes down into a full size bed behind the drivers seat. They stay 4 days, Leslie came home in time to spend one day visiting then they all went to Pocatello, and Utah to visit their brothers & sisters. We all attended the Snake River Rodeo Friday night 21st. David will report again for duty about 7th of August at Columbus.
