Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) | 17 October 2002 Darwin Lyle Thompson, age 78, died in Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday, October 14, 2002. Born January 10, 1924 in Logan, Ut., to James and Catherine O. South Thompson. He married Beverly Mae Caffall on Feb. 20, 1947 at Salt Lake City; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a longtime member of the Rose Park 1st and 2nd Wards. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Italy, North Africa and the Philippines. He retired from Greyhound as a bus driver, after an industrial accident in 1967. Everyone who knew him has a story to tell. Preceded in death by his wife, and parents; brothers ; James George and Blaine. He is survived by a son Steve, and a daughter Suzanne (George) Maw, seven grandchildren, eight great-grand-children, sister Arlene Davis of Perry, Florida, and a brother Cloyd (Rochelle) Thompson, Salt Lake City. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 18th at 12:30 at Larkins Sunset Gardens, 1700 East 10600 South, Sandy, Ut. Friends may call at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South in Salt Lake Thursday, Oct. 17th from 6 to 8 p.m., and prior to services 11to 12 noon at the Crescent North Stake Center, 1050 East 10600 South, Sandy.
