Daniel B Ellsworth

Everybody knows my uncle Dan as the joker, and trickster but I remember thinking he was the greatest magician ever! In second grade I remember my Dad/teacher (William Hall Ellsworth) had a special guest come and perform some magic tricks. When he opened the door and my uncle was there I was so excited. A few of my last memories I have of my uncle Dan were when he stopped by our house to "trade". He and my dad would trade junkyard things frequently last few trades Uncle Dan wanted as many blue water jugs as he could get. In return he gave my dad a "rain collector?" and some metal chains that he used to have his boys lug around here and there on their lawn. My very last memory I have of my uncle Dan and probably the most treasured was when I went to their house to swim I remember him sitting at the kitchen table cutting this cigar out of a wooden figurine he had bought. I thought it curious because he talked about it as a proud find at garage sell but yet he was literally taking a knife to it when he finished cutting it out I recall him saying "there now he is whistling!" When I found out about Dan's passing my two cousins (Christa Kaaen, Evelyn Kaaen), my sister (Clara Jane Ellsworth) and I were at girls camp we all thought it was a trick at first and that he was going to pop out at anytime. In fact I even remember saying Right? with such doubt when they broke the news that they told me a second time. We all got packed up and ready to head home early from camp but while riding in the car and reminiscing we decided to turn back and finish out girls camp because we knew its what he would of wanted.
