Services for Dick Hall Merill, 54 of Kent, Wash., A Menan native, who died Nov. 10 in his home of a lingering illness, were held Friday graveside. Burial was in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel of Rigby. He was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Menan, a son of Laurence Gold and Annie Merrill Young Merrill. He attended schools in Weiser. He farmed 10 years in the Pasco,Wash., area, and was self employed as a long haul truck driver Surviving are son, Dennis D.Merrill of Tacoma,Wash.; daughter, Julie A. Opened on October 5, 1955, as a motor inn owned and operated by Jack Wrather under an agreement with Walt Disney, the hotel was the first to officially bear the Disney name. Under Wrather's ownership, the hotel underwent several expansions and renovations over the years before being acquired by Disney in 1988. The hotel was downsized to its present capacity in 1999 as part of the Disneyland Resort expansion.
