In Memory of
Verla Jensen Pace
November 15, 1928 - August 21, 2017
Verla Pace passed on surrounded by her family in her home on Aug 21, 2017 in Lehi, Utah.
She was born in Blackfoot, Idaho to parents, Melvin E and Vera May Saunders Jensen on Nov 15, 1928. She grew to adulthood working on the farm in Idaho and Eastern Oregon, where she learned to work hard, which was a pattern for her life. She graduated from Nyssa High School in 1946, at the end of WWII.
After graduation she attended BYU in Provo, Utah for a semester during which she met Calvin at a Sock Hop. They danced their way to engagement and were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on Sept 9, 1947.
After Calvin's graduation from BYU in 1950 they took a teaching position in Joseph, Oregon. She supported her husband in his career teaching and coaching in high schools in Joseph, Elgin and Brookings, Oregon.
In 1960 they moved to Arcata in Northern California, where they remained for the next 47 years, raising children, serving the church and community.
Verla raised their 5 children; Stan, Marla, Den, Connie and Darin. She was a loving mother, grandmother (23), great-grandmother (57) and friend to many.
In 2006, they moved to Lehi, Utah to be closer to family. She cared for Calvin until he passed in 2009.
Verla loved sewing, quilting, reading, genealogy, playing her organ, doing 1000 piece puzzles, baking for family and friends. She had a sweet smile and a giving heart and was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend.
She was a faithful, obedient daughter of God and lived according to her testimony of Christ and Heavenly Father's Plan.
We will miss her dearly.
