CLARISSA A HANSEN

Born January 10, 1895 in Taylor , Arizona to Pioneer parents, Clarissa was one of thirteen children. She spent her girlhood on a small ranch riding horses, delighting her father and older brothers with her saucy ways and improving her many talents one of which was singing in a rich true voice. Clarisa met her husband Charles Francis Hansen, when he came to Taylor to teach school. He was in fact, one of her teachers, ten years her senior. She quickly became teacher's pet, then flattered by the attentions of the charming professor, she agreed to marry him. She was nineteen years old when they traveled by train to Salt Lake to be married in the temple . To her eight children, she devoted her life, her energy, her health and strength. When her babies were little and frail, papa made the comment that if love were enough, the children would survive, and they did Whatever she attempted she would not be satisfied until it was perfect This applied equally to giving a reading in Relief Society, making clothes and costumes making sure they fit just right and seasoning the delicious beans and brown bread , that all remember so fondly.
