12/31/2021Obituary (1): "Provo Evening Herald", Provo, Utah, Monday, May 9, 1927, page 1: Funeral services will be held in the Provo Sixth ward chapel Tuesday at 1 p.m. for Frank Ahlander, 46, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Ahlander of this city, who died in a Salt lake hospital Sunday following an illness of more than nine weeks. He had been at the hospital for more than a month. He was born in Valis, Norway, December 29, 1880, and came to Utah when six years old with his parents. They lived in Ogden for eight years and have been residents of Provo for the past 32 years. Mr. Ahlander returned to Provo several months ago after having lived in Seattle, Alaska and California off and on for more than 10 years. He was an expert mechanic. He is survived by one son, Claude Ahlander of Los Angeles; his parents; two brothers, Berton Ahlander of San Francisco, and Joseph Ahlander of Provo; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Brown and Mrs. Martha Gaisford of Salt Lake and Mrs. Amanda Banks of Provo. The body may be viewed prior to the services at the home of his parents, 491 South Second West street.
Obituary (2): "Provo Evening Herald", Provo, Utah, Wednesday, May 11, 1927, page 1: Impressive funeral services were held in the Sixth ward chapel Tuesday afternoon for Frank Ahlander, who died in a Salt Lake hospital Sunday. Bishop John McAdam presided. The opening prayer was offered by Daniel Webster and the benediction was pronounced by A. O. Smoot. "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "O My Father: were sung by a quartet, Marguerite Jepperson, Grace Linton, Walter Jepperson and Dan Webster. Mrs. Anna Hinckley and Prof. J. R. Boshard rendered the vocal duet, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." The speakers were Andrew Knudsen, Bishop W. P. Whitehead of the Provo First ward, and Bishop McAdam of the Sixth ward. Mrs. Norma Poulton Bullock rendered the vocal solo, "Spirit of God" and "OH, It Is Wonderful" was sung by Grace Linton and Marguerite Jepperson. Edward Stromness of Salt Lake City dedicated the grave at the city cemetery. During the lowering of the casket Byron Dastrup furnished a cornet solo, "Rock of Ages," accompanied by Samuel J. Jepperson. The many beautiful floral offerings bespoke the love and esteem with which Mr. Ahlander was held by his many friends.
