Someone ordered the stone for the WRONG Benjamin Jorden...The Benjamin Jorden enlisted in Co. C. Alabama Infantry died during the war...oops! My ancestor, Benjamin Franklin Jordan, was part of the 37th Georgia Company A. Why? Because he is listed as being a resident of Georgia from 1850-1870. The family moved to Calhoun County after the war was over.
Benjamin F. Jordan - Enlisted as a Confederate Soldier August 29, 1861 in Cobb County, Ga., by Capt Wilson for the period of the War. Muster rolls for Co. B, 3 Battalion Georgia Infantry.
He shows attendance from August 1861 November and December 1862. Then there are Company Muster rolls for Co. 1, 37 Georgia Infantry showing enlistment as August 1861 in Cobb County Ga. by Capt. Wilson showing Benjamin F. Jordan absent with notation: "Wounded Sept, 19, 1863 and sent to hospital.
B.F. Jordan Appears on a LIST of casualties of the 37th Ga. Regiment in the battles of Chickamauga, Georgia Sept. 18, 19, and 20, 1863.
Remarks: Wounded in thigh and hand severe. B. F. Jordan Pvt. Co. A 37 Georgia, appears on a ROLL of non-commissioned officers and privates employed on extra duty during the month of March 1864, with the nature of the service as "enrolling duty".
