Grandpa's Cabin

Contributor: Rbemis01 Created: 1 year ago Updated: 1 year ago

Grandpa, Arthur C. Porter, had a beautiful cabin in Palisades Idaho. I got to sleep over a couple times by myself or with cousins. I remember one time I helped Grandpa split a chord or two of wood with a screw log splitter machine. Grandpa liked to fish. He took me fishing down at the bottom of the Palisades Dam. I caught a 5 pound trout. I don't know if that was a fish farm because I was too little to know. It remains still the largest fish I ever caught. I don't fish that often though. Grandpa had a sailboat. One time, as we were getting into the boat he suddenly feel in the water. He had his waders on. They filled up with water and I think they would have pulled him under if it was deeper. It was kind of scary for me. He wasn't happy about falling in. I'm not sure how it happened.

Sometime I'll have to tell you about how your grandfather Art chewed me out for buying a convertible. Then when Randy bought one, he got after me again for setting a bad example. Of course, I was only a kid of about 47 years old at the time. If he were alive today, he would be really upset if he knew how much I've got in his old Woodie. (Grandpa had a beautiful Ford Woodie).
