Paris was born in 1847, a son of Lieutenant-Colonel Abraham Collies Anderson (of the 86th Foot Regiment) & Anne Maria Brooke. He arrived in NZ in 1869 with his brother Maitland Cuthbert Barlow Anderson (1846-1919).
Paris married Anne Alice Robinson in Makara, Wellington, in 1870 and his brother Maitland married Anne's sister Edith Dring Robinson in 1871 (& had 12 children). Maitland died 4 weeks before him.

Mr Paris Brooke Anderson, whose death at Manakau was reported last week, came from a prominent English military family. His father was the late Lieutenant-Colonel Anderson, who at the time of his death was in charge of the troops stationed at Edinburgh Castle. His three brothers were: General Arthur W. L. Anderson, Colonel Edward B. Anderson and Mr Farquhar Anderson (of Karori). Two of his sisters are living in England. Major Eric Anderson, a nephew of the late Mr Anderson, was one of the first British officers to win the D.S.O. in the late war. The late Mr Maitland Anderson, of Makara, pre-deceased his brother by a month, at the age of 78 years.
