Description

On May 3rd 1941 a single bomb took the lives of 107 people sheltering in the basement beneath Wilkinson's lemonade factory in North Shields. Forty-two of those were under the age of 16 with whole families lost. The Chater family was one of those families......Alfred, with his wife and four children all perished in what stands as the largest incident in terms of loss of life from a single bomb in wartime Britain.
