Description
James Bertram Keith was a son of the Rev William Keith, M.A., D.D., of Keith Hall, Aberdeen, Scotland.
He was an Accountant and property valuer of 102 Cole street, Masterton, manager of the Masterton Building Society, Chairman of the Masterton Hospital Committee. Arrived in Masterton about 1880 and was made manager of the Loan and Mercantile Agency when it opened in Masterton in 1881. Stood in the 1897 elections for a trustee of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, beaten by C. A. Pownall & A. Vile. Was 1 of the representatives of the managers of the Masterton Technical School. Manager of the Masterton Permanent Investment and Building Society. Married Agathe Hermine Gertrude Rockel from Barossa, SA, in 1881. Buried here with some of their children & Alexander's wife Emma
