Rubye was born June 12, 1923, in Surry County. Rubye is daughter of I. L. and Filina (Hanks) Spencer; they live at 170 Hay Street, Mount Airy, N. C., and have no children -September 1953. Family of Judith Anne (Hill) Pratt, 2nd child of Martha E. (Hill) Griffith, and her husband, Fred Harold Pratt, who were married August 21, 1948, in Elizabeth City, N. C. Fred is son of Harold and Gladys (Phelps) Pratt, and was born February 27, 1929, in Wilton, N. Y. Fred is in the Air Force -1953; they live on Route #1, Westfield, N. C., and have two children. Family of Christopher Jackson Griffith, 4th child of Martha E. (Hill) Griffith, g-g-son of Emma J. (Stone) Hill, and his wife, Mildred Puckett, who were married on February 14, 1948. Mildred was born on September 17, 1923, in Surry County, daughter of Harvey L. and Elizabeth (Smith) Puckett. They live in Cana, Virginia, and have two children. Family of Thomas Troy Griffith, 7th child of Martha E. (Hill) Griffith, g-son of Nathaniel D. S. Hill, and his wife, Dot Lessel, who were married in 1952, in Arkansas. Dot is daughter of John and Katherine (Long) Lessel, and was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on September 3, 1931. They live at 5940 Dudley St., Dearborn 9, Michigan, and have one child. Family of Minnie Hill, 5th child of Nathaniel D. S. Hill, and husband, Marshall A. Chilton, who was born April 24, 1891. Minnie and Marshal were married January 28, 1912. Children: Henry K. Mary Irene William L. Frank D. Effie J. Landon M. Family of Maggie L. Hill, 7th child of N. D. S. Hill, and husband, Claude Swanson Childress, who was born May 18, 1893, in Sylvester, Virginia, they were married March 31, 1918; Claude died August 22, 1944. Children: Vera Louise, born June 20, 1919, in N. C.; married Al Johnson. Claude Swanson, Jr., born September 21, 1924, in N. C.; married Pat Zillison. Bettie Sue, born April 29, 1929, in N. C.; married John Creed; in the service, in Korea -1953. Jack D., born June 12, 1931, in N. C.; married a Miss Merritt; is student at State College, Raleigh -1953. Family of Jessie N. Hill, 9th child of N. D. S. Hill, and husband, George Nathan Watson, who was born March 25, 1905, in Westfield. They have five children. Daughter, born September 6, 1934, and died at birth. Family of Joel Winston Hill, second child of Emma Jane (Stone) Hill, and Sarah Elizabeth (McDaniel) Hill, who were married in Pilot Mountain. Joel Winston died May 6, 1898, and was buried in family graveyard in Pilot Mountain. Sarah Elizabeth was born December 11, 1867, in Pilot Mountain, died December 15, 1933, and was buried in Pilot Mountain. She is daughter of Henry P. and Evaline (Baldwin) McDaniel. After death of her first husband, she was married to S. A. Patterson. Children of Joel W. and Sarah E. Hill: James Ellis, born November 1, 1889, in Pilot Mountain; married Lillie Ann Mickey. Mamie Lucile, born August 19, 1892, in Pilot Mountain; married James H. Cofer, June 21, 1910. John Winston, born June 22, 1898, in Pilot Mountain; married Violet Teague, July 3, 1919. Family of James Ellis Hill, 1st child of Joel W. Hill, who married Lillie Ann Mickey. Address: Midlothian, Virginia. They have 9 children. Family of Audrey Ermine (Hill) Meadows, 1st child of Jas. Ellis Hill, and William Brightwell Meadows, who were married April 19, 1930. Wm. B. was born August 22, 1909, in Meadows. They have one child. Family of James Clifford Hill, son of James Ellis Hill, g-son of Joel Winston Hill, who married Frances Loraine Fisher, daughter of John C. and Eliza Fisher; she was born in N. C., October 30, 1911. They have one child. Family of Sue May (Hill) Byer, 3rd child of Jas. E. Hill, and John Edward Byer, who were married April 17, 1936, in Washington, D. C. John E. was born March 11, 1907, in Covington, Virginia, son of John Wm and Edna Castina (Bowyer) Byer. Residence: 139 Warwick Road, Richmond 24, Virginia. They have three children, all born in Richmond. Family of Herbert Lee Hill, 5th child of Jas. E. Hill, and Anne (Shelton) Hill, who were married April 24, 1942. Anne is daughter of Noel Templeton and Elizabeth (Terrill) Shelton, and was born in November, 1923, in Richmond, Virginia, where they live. All four children were born in Richmond. Margaret Lucille Hill was married to Henry T. Smith, January 19, 1943, in Columbus, Georgia. Henry T. is son of Arthur T. and Gladys (Womack) Smith, and was born May 7, 1922, in Richmond, Virginia. They have no children -Dec 1952. Family of Barbara Elizabeth Hill, 7th child of J. E. Hill, and Harry Clinard Terry, who were married June 26, 1947, in Alexandria, Virginia. Harry C. is son of Nicholas and Alma T. (Burnley) Terry, born October 26, 1919, in Buckingham County, Virginia. They live at 3430 Danbury Road, Richmond, Virginia. They have one child. Elton Vera Hill, 8th child of J. E. Hill, and William Lee Brame were married November 12, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia. Wm. Lee is son of Thomas Edward and Ruby (Mann) Brame, and was born March 12, 1928, in Richmond. They have no children -Dec 1952. Family of Mamie Lucille Hill, daughter and 2nd child of Joel Winston Hill, who married James Henry Cofer, June 21, 1910, in Fort Mill, S. C. James H. is son of Jesse James and Laura Ann (Young) Cofer, and was born September 11, 1885, in Winston-Salem. They have two children. James Hill Cofer and Jessie Irene Speas, daughter of Ernest Augustus and Georgia Alice Speas were married March 2, 1940, in Martinsville, Virginia. Jessie was born April 15, 1915, in Forsyth County, N. C. They live at 962 Vernon Avenue, W-S. They have no children -Nov. 1952. Family of William Milton Cofer and Myrtle Frye, who were married in Roanoke, Virginia, November 27, 1947. Myrtle Anna is daughter of John Marion and Ida Lee Frye, and was born June 4, 1925, in Lawsonville, Stokes County, N. C. Address 3046 Gilmer Ave., W-S., N. C. They have one child. John Winston Hill, 3rd child of Joel Winston Hill, married Violet Teague, July 3, 1919, in W-S.; Violet is daughter of John Franklin and Lou Avania (Brown) Teague and was born June 1, 1894, in Staley, Randolph County, N. C., where they now live. They have no children. Family of Jane Elizabeth (Hill) McDaniel, 3rd child of Emma J. Stone Hill, and Henry Daniel McDaniel, Jr., who were married November 6, 1891, in Surry County, N. C. Henry was born in Pilot Mountain, August 9, 1873, son of Henry and Evaline (Baldwin) McDaniel, Sr. Jane Elizabeth died August 7, 1898, in Elmira, Mo., and was buried there; Henry died August 7, 1950, in Pilot Mountain and was buried there; their children were: Mallie Mae, born August 6, 1892, in Pilot Mountain; married Robert Wilson. Gracie Martin, born November 19, 1893, in Pilot Mountain; married R. P. Dillard Brim. Daisy Ethel, born March 9, 1895, in Pilot Mountain; married Willie Frank York. They have four children, all born in Pilot Mountain. Ruby Mae (Wilson) and George Franklin Shackleford were married February 10, 1938; George F. was born in Mount Airy. They have no children -Nov. 1952. Family of Ruth Emma (Wilson) and B. Frank Cook, who were married in Mount Airy, N. C. B. Frank is son of Eli and Mrs. (Simmons) Cook. They have three children. Family of Sarah Frances (Wilson) and Rosco Eldredge Calloway, who were married April 4, 1939, in Virginia. Rosco was son of Claude and Lommie (Stantley) Calloway; he died March 24, 1950, and was buried in Pilot Mountain. They have two children. Family of Aldine Hutchins and lois Irene (Venable) Wilson; Lois I is daughter of Rufus and Sadie (Atkins) Venable, and was born in Mount Airy, N. C., July 6, 1922. They have three children. John W. is son of John William and Maggie Cummings. They live in Pilot Mountain, and have no children -Nov. 1952. Family of Gracie Martin (McDaniel) Brim and Raleigh Pinckney Dillard Brim, who were married December 18, 1910. Dillard was born in Pinnacle, N. C., December 18, 1887, son of Thomas Materson and Luella (Mills) Brim. They live on R. #2, Pilot Mountain, N. C. Children: Willie May, born January 1, 1912, in Pinnacle; died November 2, 1914. Family of Evelyn Christine (Linville) Reese and Harold d. Reese, who was born in Guilford County, N. C., March 4, 1933; they were married November 18, 1950 in Liberty, N. C. Residence: Julian, N. C. They have one child. Family of Frankie Elizabeth (Brim) Scotte and Elbert W. Scotte, who was born October 10, 1914, in Shoals, N. C., son of Sam and Jettie (Brown) Scotte; they were married December 17, 1934, in Shoals. They have three children. Family of Joann (Scotte) Keye, daughter of Frankie Elizabeth (Brim) Scotte, g-daughter of Gracie M. (McDaniel) Brim, g-g-daughter of Emma Jane (Stone) Hill, and her husband Clyde Keye: they have one child. Kathleen Evaline Brim and Paul Venable were married July 11, 1944, in Winston-Salem, N. C. Residence: Pilot Mountain. Family of Troy Mc Brim and Dorthia (Bryant) Brim, who were married August 11, 1939, in Virginia; Dorthia was born August 21, 1921, in Surry County, daughter of Elma and Minnie (Denny) Bryant. They have three children. Family of Margaret Louise (Brim) King and Emit Randal King, Jr. Randal was born March 16, 1920, in Duplin, Virginia, son of Emit E. and Zettie (King) King. Margaret and Randal were married February 21, 1942, in Winston-Salem. They have one child. Family of Raleigh P. Brim, Jr. and his first wife, Annie Ruth Ashburn, daughter of Lester and Allie (Whitaker) Ashburn, who was born June 16, 1927, in Mount Airy; they have one child. Raleigh P.’s second wife was Helen James, daughter of Jesse Langford and Charity (McGee) James, born November 15, 1927, in Surry County. They were married January 15, 1951, in High Point; they have one child. Family of Billie Gray Brim and Dorothy May (Chilton) Brim, who were married September 22, 1950. Dorothy May, daughter of Earlie and Ruth (Cain) Chilton, was born May 8, 1931, in Pinnacle, N. C. They have two children. Bettie Sue Brim was married February 9, 1952, in High Point, to Clarence Alden Marion, who was born March 20, 1932, in Surry County, son of Ernest Squire and Minnie (Patterson) Marion. They have no children. -Dec. 1952. Family of Daisy Ethel (McDaniel) York and Willie Frank York, who were married April 16, 1916, in Mount Airy. Daisy Ethel died October 3, 1918, and was buried near Mount Airy. They have one child. Forrest Irene, born October 24, 1917, in Surry County; married Troy Lee Lewis. Family of Forrest Irene (York) Lewis and Troy Lee Lewis, who were married February 11, 1939, in Hillsville, Virginia. Address: Stella, Virginia. Troy Lee is son of George Madison and Ethel Virginia (Hull) Lewis, and was born June 20, 1913, in Stella, Virginia. They have six children. Family of Elizabeth Jane McDaniel, daughter of Jane Elizabeth Hill McDaniel, g-daughter of Emma Jane Stone Hill, who married Charlie Simmons; as a child, Elizabeth was cared for by her grandmother, who loved her as though she were her own child. Charles William, son of Henry and Mahala (Laughlin) Stevenson, was born October 18, 1920, in Randleman, N. C. They have two children. Herbert R. is the son of Elwood and Esther (Freeman) Johnson, and was born September 17, 1925, in Randleman. They have three children. Family of Annie Ruth (Inman) and Oliver Buddy McElreath, address: 1323 Winslow Avenue, Asheboro, N. C. They were married July 3, 1949, in High Point, N. C. Oliver B., son of Crawford Wm. and Ella (Wright) McElreath, was born September 15, 1927, in High Point, N. C. Their two children one born August 15, 1951, the other born July 17, 1952, both died in infancy. Family of Clarence Edward Bennett, 3rd child of Ella Savannah (Hill) Bennett and David Franklin Bennett; address: 1215 Motor Road, Winston-Salem, N. C. Clarence was born in Pilot Mountain, May 11, 1899, and married Lucy Bertie Reeves, May 15, 1922; she was born in Mount Airy, N. C., April 16, 1898, daughter of John and Selena Reeves. They have five children. Opal Aldeen Bennett, daughter of Clarence E. Bennett, and Grover Cleveland Landingham, Jr., son of G. C. Landingham, Sr., and Nellie Mae (Pike) Landingham, were married October 11, 1952, in Chesterfield, S. C. Address: 1008 Madison Avenue, Winston-Salem, N. C. They have no children. -Dec. 1952. Family of Vivian Frances (Bennett) Dair and Willie Edgar Dair, who were married in Hillsville, Virginia. Willie E. was born in Davidson County, N. C., July 19, 1919. Address: 701 Fairway Avenue, Thomasville, N. C. Willie is son of Edgar Lee and Fannie (Clinard) Dair. They have three children. Family of Lois Marie (Bennett) Shields and Jack Shields, who were married January 21, 1949. Jack is son of Andy and Shelly (Montsinger) Shields, and was born March 14, 1924, in Forsyth County, N. C. Address: Kernersville RFD 1, N. C. They have one child. Family of Jennings Allen bennett and wife, Mary Frances (Inman) Bennett, daughter of John R. and Mickey (Brinkley) Inman, born October 5, 1897, in Pilot Mountain, N. C. They live in Pilot Mountain, Jennings built a monument to his g-parents, John Wesley and Emma Jane (Stone) Hill in their family graveyard. They have three children. Family of Evelyn Lena Bennett, daughter of Jennings A. Bennett, g-g-daughter of Emma Jane (Stone) Hill, who married Marvin Russell Hamlin on December 24, 1951, in Pilot Mountain, N. C. Marvin R. is son of Sid and Eva (Sanford) Hamlin, and was born in Surry County, N. C., May 30, 1922. They live in Pilot Mountain, and have one child. Family of Emma Irene Bennett and William Nedley Needham, who were married November 24, 1923, in Ararat, N. C. Their address: Carthage, N. C., R. #2. Wm. Family of Clifford Edgar Stone, son of Joseph Edgar Stone, and wife, Willie (Hilva) Stone, who were married September 20, 1929, in Aberdeen, Idaho; Willie was born in Aberdeen, on September 20, 1913, daughter of Parley Hilva and wife; they live in Pingree, Idaho. They have eight children, all born in Aberdeen, Idaho. Family of Geraldine Stone, daughter of Clifford Edgar, g-daughter of Joseph Edgar Stone, who married Charles Blakeslee on July 27, 1948, in Compton, California. They live in Compton and have three children, all born in Compton. Family of Myrtle Stone, daughter of Joseph Edgar Stone, g-g-daughter of Calvin Gordon Stone, who married first, Calvin McCurdy, on April 23, 1935, in Blackfoot, Idaho, by whom she had one child. Myrtle later married Max Cleveland on March 17, 1944; they have one child.
