Description

1871 to 1947 the cemetery was under the control of the Presbyterian Church now under the South Wairarapa District Council. very small but historic cemetery. Waihenga Cemetery, Dublin Street Located on Dublin Street, Martinborough. Opened in 1885, Dublin Street Cemetery is a historic monumental area that served the town of Waihenga. The first person buried was 12 year old Brian Wilson, who met with an accident October 10th 1871. During the 1940's, fire swept through the cemetery, destroying wooden crosses, these records are no longer available. The last Burial Was James McMaster June 22 1956.. The cemetery is now fully utilised and is no longer available for burials.
