Description

(US) The Religious Cemetery of Stoczek Łukowski is located at Kościelna Street, in the vicinity of the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to available sources, the cemetery was established in 1787 and a little later an earlier church was built here, which, according to the records, existed until 1909 and went to the village of Prawda. The cemetery area is situated on a hillside, enclosed by an old stone wall, and is one of the largest necropolises in the region. For a century of history, the inhabitants of Stoczek Łukowski and the surrounding area, january insurgents, heroes of the struggle, citizens, landowners and priests have been buried here. There is a brick epitaph to soldiers of the Home Army who died during the war, as well as the graves of partisans who died in the fight for an independent and free Poland.
