Cemetery Description

The church of St Mary’s in the Kent village of Lydden is a beautiful church that has changed little since it was first built in the 11th Century. The Norman architects built the church from flint and it has a slate roof. The solid walls are three feet thick and laid out the church with a nave and a west tower. Inside the church visitors can see two elaborate carved recesses, in one of which is the armorial shield of a local noble family. The Churchyard has an annex on the opposite side of Church Lane which holds a number of additional internments.
