The correct postcode for this cemetery is: SO19 9BJ The first burial to take place at St Mary Extra Cemetery (originally St Mary Extra Burial Board and then Itchen Urban District Council) was on 17 November 1879. The cemetery was taken over by Southampton City Council in 1922. There is a Chapel, Grade II listed, situated within the grounds. The War Memorial situated on the left hand side of the cemetery near the main entrance gates was erected in 1920 and was paid for by public subscription, by the residents of Woolston, Itchen and Sholing.
