Sawnee View Gardens, located 2 miles north of Cumming, has been serving area communities since November of 1962. We started with 15 acres and 1 developed Garden. The cemetery, aptly named for its view of Sawnee Mountain, is Forsyth County's only Perpetual Care Cemetery.
Sawnee View Gardens was started by 2 local businessmen, Royston Ingram, Sr. and Leon Boling. Royston's son, George, is the present owner of the cemetery. Over the years, additional land has been purchased for a total of 50 beautiful acres. The cemetery currently has 9 developed Gardens offering an abundance of ground spaces in different locations throughout the cemetery. The Cemetery Staff is available for services seven days a week and on holidays. The cemetery offers a beautiful 1 1/2 acre lake which is the home to several "well fed" ducks.
In 1986, construction on the cemetery's first mausoleum was started housing 240 crypts for casket burials and 80 niches for cremations. In 2000, an additional 256 crypts and 176 niches were added to double the size of the original building. Then in 2008, the capacity was doubled again adding over 500 crypt spaces as well as 200 niches for cremains. In addition to the niches in the Mausoleum, we felt a need for niches away from the structure of a building. We offer cremation niches by the lake in our feature columbaria with another center feature planned for the fall of 2011.
