Description

This cemetery is still active. The front gate said Union Cemetery but the locals called it the Saint John Cemetery. You may notice that many of the gravestones are "fuzzy", and may not be able to read. This is because of a nearby cement plant putting cement dust into the air and it drifted over the gravestones. After many years and rain and dew eventually hardened the cement and the letters were filled in making reading them difficult to read. Many of the gravestones can be cleaned with a rubber or plastic hammer which does not damage the gravestone but can loosen the cement. Cops were called on me and they requested I stop. They could not see any damage so no charges. RLTurner53 7/24/2018 NOTE: some missing names and dates were researched in Find A Grave.
