Description

In 1906, a Jewish man was killed in an accident in Toronto & buried in a non Jewish cemetery. Though Jewish graveyards operated in Toronto as early as the mid 19th century, none existed to serve communities outside the city limits. Horrified that the Jewish community was not organized enough to deal with such occurrences, Mr & Mrs Samuel Weber bought land on Roselawn Avenue for a cemetery (then located outside of Toronto) The man whose death inspired the cemetery was re-interred in Roselawn soon afterwards....
