Description

Pleasant Hill Cemetery is located at the SE corner of the intersection of Pleasant Hill Rd and Arms Road in eastern Knox County, Tennessee. Per Plaque at entrance "The land for this cemetery was a gift from John and Mary Arms after the burial here of Mr. Arms' father Sergeant John A. Arms, Company B. 6th Tennessee Infantry (US), a veteran of the Union Army during the Civil War. The Cemetery was adjacent to the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church and came to be known as the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Arms, Blanche and Reba were supportive of the Cemetery after their parent's deaths. Blanch and her husband Fred R. Burris, were instrumental in forming the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association; it mission has been to maintain the cemetery in beauty and dignity to preserve it in perpetuity. The Associations mission has been ensured by many active participants, including in recent years Betty Ann McMillan. This Plaque is dedicated in September 2008 in memory of the loved ones resting here and with gratitude for those who have supported the association over the years."
