Cemetery Description
The New Albany Cemetery, a.k.a. Old Burying Ground, is in the middle of New Albany. It is small cemetery located along the south bank of Rose Run. Due to the occasional flood of Rose Run, several of the people originally laid to rest here were moved to the newer and larger Maplewood Cemetery.
Plain Township mentions New Albany Cemetery in its description of the history of Maplewood Cemetery (https://plaintownship.org/cemeteries/history-of-maplewood-cemetery/) - but they do not include it in the list of three cemeteries they care for (https://plaintownship.org/cemeteries/).
According to Leona L. Gustafson, the Village of New Albany is responsible for its care and maintanence. She has a complete inventory of all the stones found on March 4, 2004 on her genealogybug.net website (note: her photos are copyright protected and may be viewed but NOT copied).
