Description

The Naperville Cemetery located in downtown Naperville in DuPage County dates back to 1842. Captain Joe Naper, the founder of Naperville, as well as many other notable Naperville families are buried here. Many historians visit the cemetery and Naper Settlement semi-annually conducts tours highlighting the historical sites located within the cemetery. This is a resting place for Naperville history. The not-for-profit Naperville Cemetery was incorporated on December 23, 1875 with the State of Illinois and was named The Naperville Cemetery Association. The Association is governed by a volunteer board of directors. The 40 acre cemetery is extremely beautiful, serene and well maintained. It serves all ages, religions, beliefs, races and national creeds. We strive to accommodate any special requests that may be a part of a families’ belief or culture during the burial process. The cemetery is open from sunrise to sunset 365 days a year. Naperville Cemetery encompasses the older pioneer burials of the area. The office of the Naperville Cemetery Association is on the grounds and has its own seperate parking lot. The Fox Valley Genealogical Society has published a book and cemetery transcription of this site. It can be purchased from their website: http://ilfvgs.org/publications/naper-cemetery
