******** This cemetery is no longer active. ******** The cemetery was founded by the German Evangelical Lutheran St. Stephens Congregation, which was established in October, 1868. The cemetery was moved to this location from the corner of Lee and Thacker Streets in 1875 when Center Street was extended from Prairie to Thacker. The Public Library says it's call the Des Plaines Cemetery, but many locals insist that it was once Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. It is extremely old and in disrepair but I took as many legible headstone photos as possible.
