Description

Until well into the twentieth century, the graves of Unterhausen were grouped harmoniously around the more than a 1000-year-old St. John's Church in the center of the village. The deceased citizens of Oberhausen also found their final resting place here until about 1835. On the slope of the Lippentaler Hochberg (hill), in the so-called Haldenäcker (acreage fields), the new cemetery complex of the municipality of Unterhausen was built in the years 1923–1924, high above the floor of the Echaz valley, which is surrounded by woods and whose scenic beauty, despite the rather dense industrial settlement and the lively commercial activity of its inhabitants, never ceases to captivate visitors.
