Description

Like its sister cemetery, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), the Edgewood Cemetery was established in 1918 around the time that the Edgewood Arsenal was first founded. The cemetery is often referred to by many as the Edgewood Area Cemetery, or Aberdeen Proving Ground-South Cemetery, because the land falls within the jurisdiction of the APG installation. Buried in this cemetery are chemical warfare pioneers who founded Edgewood Arsenal back in 1918, and who in the path of duty lost their lives either by accident or disease. Small and quaint, the Edgewood Arsenal Cemetery offers visitors an area for private reflection.
