Description

St. Margaret's churchyard extension is accessed either from a path behind St. Margaret's church itself or from Margery Lane at the top of St. Margaret's allotments. It's a peaceful spot, close to the city centre but with remarkably few visitors. It's on a steep hill, with patches of woodland. Many of the stones are overrun with brambles and ivy, and some are so deep inside thickets that it's not practical to get to them for photography. Many stones have fallen (or been pushed over for safety); more than a few lie on their faces, and others are getting buried as fallen leaves and grasses turn to soil on top of them.
