Description

Also known as Hales Passage Scandinavian Lutheran Cemetery. Not far from Hales Passage on a quiet country road lies the Cromwell Cemetery. It is a fitting resting place for the Scandinavian fishermen and their families who first settled the Cromwell area.\n\nThe Cemetery Association was first formed on January 3, 1903 and was originally called the \"Hales Passage Scandinavian Lutheran Cemetery Association.\"\n\nIn the early years of its beginning only those of the Lutheran faith were interred there, but in the years since, other citizens of the Cromwell area have found it a final abiding place for their loved ones.\n\nIt was begun on donated land by Gabriel Evje and F. W. Samuelson.\n\nOld members of the Cemetery Association were: F. W. Samuelson, Gus Carlson, Julius Berntsen, Rasmus Danielson and Gabriel Evje.\n\nLocated on 62nd Ave NW, south of 28th Ave NW, in the Cromwell area of Gig Harbor
