This cemetery is located about 1/4 mile from the site of the old McCarty Family home "Cedar Grove". The house is now gone and all that remains of the cemetery is an overgrown plot surrounded by a few concrete posts, placed here in the 1920's. One corner of the cemetery appears to have been impacted by 20th century mining operations. Tradition holds that the gravestones from the McCarty Family cemetery at "Mount Air" were moved here, and that later all the headstones were moved to Pohick Church. The three headstones that were noted by Carrie White Avery's 1922 survey of this cemetery can indeed all be found on the east side the church. Date of Survey: 6/8/1994 (Information from Find A Grave)
