Description

The Boone City Cemetery is one of the oldest in Watauga County. Many leading citizens are buried here, including D.D. Daughtery and B.B. Daughtery, founders of Appalachian State University. It is surrounded on three sides by University facilities. On the fourth side is found the Jordan Councill Cemetery, a slave cemetery which also has Union Soldiers from the Civil War.
