Description

Haycombe Cemetery and Crematorium is one of two open cemeteries maintained by Bath and North East Somerset Council - the other being and Harptree Cemetery. It also maintains 30 closed burial grounds (cemeteries and churchyards). The cemetery gates are open from 8.00am until 8.00pm from 1st April until 30th September and from 8.00am until 4.30pm from 1st October until 31st March. They are open every day of the year including week-ends and Bank Holidays. The Books of Remembrance are opened at the same times as the cemetery gates and are also on display every day of the year. The cemetery and crematorium office is open 8.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (except 10.30am - 11.00am Thursdays when it is shut for staff training). It is not open at weekends or Bank Holidays. Bath Record Office’s Bath Burial Index (https://www.batharchives.co.uk/) has online documentation produced by Phil Bendall for Haycombe Cemetery based on the cemetery’s computerised records and a survey. This includes maps of the different areas. The search facility gives burial locations as well as images of memorials (if present). There have been over 30,000 burials since its opening in 1937.
