What is BillionGraves?
- BillionGraves is a free website to look up headstone photos from around the world.
- Volunteers use Smartphones to take GPS tagged photos of headstones.
- Photos are uploaded to the BillionGraves website.
- Photos are transcribed by volunteers.
- Photos can be easily accessed for research online.

How to Take Photos
- Download the App for iPhone/iPad or Android.
- Locate and travel to a local cemetery.
- Snap photos of headstones using the BillionGraves App
- Watch out for your feet!
- Be careful of your shadow!
- Make sure headstone info is readable.
- Upload images through the BillionGraves App.

How to Transcribe Photos
- Visit the BillionGraves Transcription Page.
- Review the Transcription Help.
- Enter names, dates, and any other information on the headstone into the fields provided.
- Headstones can have information for many individuals. Make sure to add information for each.
- Photos will then be available from the search page.

Connect to FamilySearch
- After transcription, a photo can easily be connected to FamilySearch.
- Visit the FamilySearch Treeconnect page.
- Authenticate with FamilySearch.
- Match BillionGraves photos with individuals in the FamilySearch family tree.
