Description

Restland Memorial Park, aka Garden of Memories. It was founded in 1925 as a landscaped park about six miles northeast of downtown Dallas. It is since grown to over more than 375 acres. They have Wildwood Chapel, the Abbey Mausoleum, and the Chapel Gardens Mausoleum in addition to special sections for veterans, babies, and various religions. They added an expansive funeral home in 1957. The main address is 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. The office is located on the corner of S Greenville and Restland Road at the junction of Restland/Walnut Street. Contact number is 469-925-1436. The Floyd Pioneer Cemetery In June 1855, John B Floyd (1808-1879) of Kentucky, bought 900 acres of land that included this tract Later that year he settled here with his family. In the 1860s he set aside this acre for a family cemetery. Early burials included stranger's children who died of diphtheria, and a bandit killed at Floyd's Inn. Mrs. A Broad (d. 1873) has the the earliest marked grave. Floyd and his wife Julia Ann (d. 1894) are buried here. Their heirs sold the land in 1910, retaining control of the cemetery. Since 1924, Restland Memorial Park has adjoined the Pioneer Cemetery.
