The Hebrew Benevolent Society is a Jewish cemetery which occupies the southwest corner of a complex of historic cemeteries bordered by 43rd St., Ave. L, 40th St., and Broadway (Ave. J). It is one of 7 Galveston cemeteries located adjacent to one another and bounded by 40th and 43rd Streets and Broadway and Ave. L. The others are Old City, Oleander, Evergreen, New City, Old Catholic and Trinity Episcopal. Except for Hebrew Benevolent Society and the last two listed above the rest are administered by the city of Galveston Parks Department.
